We would rather you knew that upfront than discovered it later. Why servers on this patch land more attempts
Northland is a large area with a lot of rural and semi-rural addresses. For a server based in Auckland, a single attempt at a property outside Kaitaia is most of a day and a substantial travel charge — which in practice means fewer attempts, and fewer attempts means more failed service.
Using servers based in the region changes that arithmetic. Attendance can be arranged more than once, at different times of day, without each visit becoming a significant cost decision. That is usually the difference between service effected and an application for substituted service.

Where we arrange service
Kaitaia and the Aupōuri Peninsula, Kaikohe and the mid north, Doubtless Bay and Mangōnui, and the Hokianga; then south through Kerikeri and the Bay of Islands to Whangārei, Dargaville and the Kaipara, and on into Auckland.
What we do not do
We arrange service at addresses you provide. We do not undertake tracing — that is, establishing the whereabouts of someone whose location is unknown.
Under the Private Security Personnel and Private Investigators Act 2010, obtaining information about a person’s identity or whereabouts for reward is private investigator work requiring a licence from the Private Security Personnel Licensing Authority. We do not hold one and do not offer that service.
So if the address you hold turns out to be stale, we will report exactly that, and you can instruct a licensed investigator. We would rather tell you where the line sits than blur it.

Who actually serves the documents?
Service is carried out by process servers we engage who hold the appropriate PSPLA licensing. We manage the instruction, brief the server, monitor attempts and report back to you. You deal with us throughout and we invoice you directly.
What documents do you serve?
Statements of claim, applications, summonses, statutory demands, notices to terminate, trespass notices, bankruptcy and liquidation documents, and Tenancy Tribunal papers. If you are unsure whether a document needs personal service, ask.
Do I get proof of service?
Yes. Every completed service is supported by a sworn affidavit of service recording who was served, when, where, and how they were identified — prepared so it can be filed with the court.
What happens if the person avoids service?
Attendance continues at varied times, with each attempt recorded in detail. If personal service proves impossible, that record is what supports an application to the court for substituted service. We will tell you when we think that point has been reached rather than billing attempts indefinitely.
Can you serve at a rural or remote address?
Yes. Rural Northland addresses are ordinary work on this patch. It is where using servers based in the region has the clearest advantage over one travelling up from Auckland for a single attempt.
What do you need from me?
The documents, the full name of the person to be served, the address for service, and anything useful about when they are likely to be there. A description or vehicle details help where identification may be contested.
Can you serve a document if I only have an old address?
We can arrange attendance at the address you give us and report what is found. We do not offer standalone tracing of a person whose whereabouts are unknown — that is licensed investigative work under the Private Security Personnel and Private Investigators Act 2010. If the address is stale we will tell you and you can instruct a licensed investigator.
How quickly can documents be served?
Most instructions are attended within a few working days. Where a filing deadline or hearing date makes it urgent, tell us when you instruct and we will prioritise it.
How is process serving charged?
Separately from debt collection — a per-service fee based on location and urgency rather than a commission. Ask for a quote when you instruct.
